Stephen W. Long
Stephen W. Long, 55, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013 in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born in Canandaigua, N.Y., and is the son of Dr. Parker Long and the late Louise (Clarke) Long. Stephen was a graduate of Naples Central School, attended Wittenberg University, and graduated from Westminster College and Missouri Southern State University. Stephen previously worked as a News and Sports reporter in radio, most recently in Carthage, Missouri. He later taught Social Studies at Southwest R-5 Schools in Washburn, Missouri.
He was an active member of the Cassville United Methodist Church. Stephen possessed vast knowledge of sports and history. He was a lifelong fan of the Indianapolis Colts.
Stephen is survived by his father and step-mother, Dr. Parker (Marti) Long, of Green Valley, Ariz.; brother, Dr. Jeffrey (Marjorie) Long, of Canandaigua, N.Y.; sister, Elizabeth (Robert) Brennan, of Boonsboro, Md.; aunts, uncle, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Stephen is also survived by three stepchildren; Donny(Sarah) McDowell, Stephanie McDowell, Dustin Eastin and six grandchildren, all of Missouri.
He was predeceased by his sister, Terry (Larry) Stevenson.
Memorial contributions can be made to a local charity of one's choice or the Cassville United Methodist Church, 601 Gravel St. Cassville, MO 65625.
A memorial service will be held in Naples, N.Y., at the convenience of the family.
