Wanda Kay Parsons, 71, of Monett, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Aurora, following a sudden illness.

She was born Dec. 14, 1941 in Aurora, the daughter of the late Otto Mackey and Helen (Gregory) Mackey. She graduated from Monett High School. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Monett. For more than 20 years, she was a manager for the Monett Elementary School cafeteria.

She married Ralph Rhea Parsons on Aug. 19, 1960. They were blessed with over 41 years before his passing on Oct. 24, 2001. Also preceding her in death was her son-in-law, James "Jimmy" Lee.

She is survived by her fiancée, Richard Haldiman, of Monett; one son, Paul Parsons, and wife, Jan, of Monett; one daughter, Linda Lee, of Springfield; four stepsons, Michael Parsons, and wife, Larraine, of Wesley, Ark., Patrick Parsons, and wife, Sandy, of Beaumont, Texas, Mark Haldiman, of Clinton, and Mike Haldiman, and wife, Lori, of Strafford; one brother, Eddie Mackey, and wife, Carolyn, of Monett; two sisters, Patty Brown, and her husband, Charles, of Shell Knob, and Linda Vinson, and her husband John, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for were held Saturday at the First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Dodson officiating. Interment was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monett. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Free Will Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
