Patricia "Patti" Kobashigawa

Patricia "Patti" Kobashigawa, 65, of Shell Knob, passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013.

She was born Feb. 17, 1948, in Chillicothe, the daughter of Earl William and Lila Mae (Patterson) McKerlie. On May 26, 1979, in Hilo, Hawaii, she was united in marriage to Hubert Kobashigawa, who preceded her in death on April 13, 2008. Also preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors include: one daughter, Cassondra Joy McAnally and her husband, Kenneth, of Columbia; one brother, Larry Kirby and his wife, Diane, of New Bloomfield; and two grandchildren.

She received her education at Chillicothe, where she graduated from high school. At the age of 15, she became paralyzed in an automobile accident, but rose above her limitations to attend college, receiving her bachelor's degree from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. She later earned a master's degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She resided in California for a while before moving to Shell Knob to make her home. She raised Yorkshire Terriers.

She attended Trinity Presbyterian Church in Shell Knob, where memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 30 under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Susan Rosenbaum will conduct the services.
