Date set for 19th annual Golden Age Games
Preparations are being finalized for the 19th annual Missouri Health Care Association District IV Golden Age Games to be held on Friday, Oct. 25 at Monett High School gymnasium.
Registration and team photos will begin at 9 a.m., with the opening ceremony to follow at 10 a.m. The Monett VFW Post #4207, will have the flag presentation and Patty Burge will sing the "Star Spangled Banner." Entertainment for the event will be the Country Grasshoppers, and a lunch of BBQ chicken for all participants.
The Golden Age Games are open to all residents of Missouri Healthcare Association member facilities.
The Monett games will be hosted by Lacoba Homes. Participants will compete in a variety of events, including: cow milking, bingo, basketball toss, hog calling, horseshoe toss, and quiz bowl, soccer ball kick and wheelchair racing.
Monett will welcome 16 programs from the Southwest Missouri area to participate in the games.
Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded for first through third place finishers in each event. Each resident will also receive a certificate of participation and each facility will receive a team participation plaque.
This years participants include: Lacoba Homes, Monett; Seneca House; Christian Health and Rehabilitation, Republic; Cassville Health and Rehabilitation; Granby House; Sonshine Manor; Aurora Nursing and Care Center; Mt. Vernon Place Care Center; Bentonveiw Nursing and Rehabilitation, Monett; Brookhaven Health and Rehabilitation; Magnolia Square; Carthage Health and Rehabilitation; Lawrence County Manor/Resident Care; The Manor at Elfindale; Golden Living Center, McDonald County and Spring River Christian Village.
