Clay to Sculpture two-day workshop set

Creative Arts of Shell Knob will present a Clay to Sculpture workshop, led by professional sculptor Lew Aytes, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15 and Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Lakeside Christian Church in Shell Knob. Cost of materials is $65. Those planning to attend are urged to take a sack lunch. Beginner and experienced artists are welcome. Falling for Art

Falling for Art, an artist showing and festival sponsored by Creative Arts of Shell Knob, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the CCC Park, located on Highway YY in Shell Knob. Train ride to Van Buren, Ark., slated

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce is planning a train ride to Van Buren, Ark., in observance of Arts and Crafts Days on Saturday, Oct. 12. The all-day trip includes a trip through the Boston Mountains over rivers and three trestles and through the Winslow Tunnel for shopping in Van Buren. Eagle Rock Daze

Mark your calendars now for Eagle Rock Daze, taking place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. Breakfast, hosted by the Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Fire Department, will kick off the event at 7 a.m. and will feature eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy and a beverage for $6. A car show is slated for 10 a.m., followed by "Howloween," starting at 3 p.m. Booth and vendor spaces are still available at a cost of $20. For more information, call John Stilwell at 342-7923.

ERCA hosts chili dinner

The Eagle Rock Community Association will have a pot luck meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14. This month's theme is chili.

B-L libraries closed for training

All branches of the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library will be closed on Monday, Oct. 14 for the library district's annual staff training day.

Zombie-fest returns to Library

Zombie-fest will return to the Cassville Branch Library at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. This will conclude the library's showing of a popular television series and catch participants up for the new season of the show.

Farmers Market hours change

Cassville Farmers Market on the Square hours have are now 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays until the season ends on Nov. 23.

CHS clubs hold food drive

Several Cassville High School club members will join in a food drive effort, Trick or Treat so Others can Eat, between 5:30 and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22. Students will be collecting non-perishable food items for the drive.

Cassville Library hosts Teen Read Week

Cassville Branch Library is hosting Teen Read Week Oct. 13 through Oct. 19, The theme of this year's event is Seek the Unknown. Special activities will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the Cassville Branch Library. For more information, call 847-2121.

Solid Waste District N meeting

The Southwest Missouri Solid Waste Management District N will hold its regularly scheduled Executive Board Meeting at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Angus Branch Steakhouse, formerly Grant's, in Monett. The meeting is open to the public.

CHS yearbooks have arrived

The 2013 Cassville R-4 yearbooks have arrived and are on sale at $45 per copy starting Wednesday, Oct. 8 at the end of the school day. Graduates can purchase copies at the high school office. Purdy Fall Fun Festival slated

Purdy Assembly of God will host its second Fall Fun Festival from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 at the church, located at 209 W. Jefferson St. in Purdy. The event will feature games and activities for children in sixth grade and younger, along with candy, door prizes and food. The free event is family-friendly and safe. Cassville Cruisers to meet

The Cassville Cruisers will host their October Cruise-In starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Barry County Museum, located on Highway 112 south of Cassville. Habitat for Humanity will host the concessions. Car enthusiasts are invited to join the event to display their vehicles or stop by and view the past through the history of cars.

McDowell music fest slated

Ben and Betty Henderson invite musicians and music-lovers to McDowell Gold Jubilee starting at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. The jubilee will be held every other week, except in December, through the first week of May 2013. The Jubilee is located southeast of Monett, six miles on Highway ZZ to Pleasant Ridge, then south on Highway VV to the McDowell Jubilee sign.

Chili Cook-off in Shell Knob

The Fraternal Order of Eagles #4155 in Shell Knob will host its second annual Chili Cook-off on Saturday, Oct. 12. Contestants set up at 10 a.m. and tasting starts at 1 p.m. A baked goods auction will be at 4:30 p.m. First place winner will receive $200; second place, $100 and third place, $50. BC Commission seeks to fill vacancy

The Barry County Commission is seeking to fill a vacancy on the Barry County Health Department Board. Those interested in serving on the board are asked to send a letter of interest to the Barry County Commission, 700 Main St., Ste. 2, Cassville, MO 65625 no later than Friday, Oct. 25. The Commission will appoint a new board member.
