Southwest volleyball handles Wheaton

The Southwest Lady Trojans volleyball team defeated the Wheaton Lady Bulldogs in straight sets on Oct. 3.

The Lady Trojans (18-2-1, 3-0) won 25-13, 25-18 over the Lady Bulldogs (7-7-2, 2-1).

Senior middle hitter Montana Hendrix led Southwest with seven kills, four blocks and five digs.

Junior middle Shannon Mitchell chipped in eight kills, seven aces and one block. Mitchell was 13 for 13 serving.

Junior outside hitter Kayna McNabb finished with 11 digs and five assists. Senior Britney Mitchell was five for five, serving with an ace and seven digs.

Sophomore setter Jaime Shrum recorded five assists and seven digs.

Wheaton's Mariah Kochell finished with nine kills, two aces and three blocks.

Southwest travels to Gentry, Ark., on Oct. 15 and hits the road to Pierce City on Oct. 14. Both matches are slated to begin at 6 p.m.
