Floyd Hinkley Thornton
Floyd Hinkley Thornton, 75, of Monett, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Freeman West in Joplin. He was born on July 2, 1935, in Moultrie, Ga., son of Herbert Floyd and Blanche (Wills) Thornton. At a young age his family moved to Brawley, Calif., where he grew up and attended Brawley High School. He was united in marriage on Aug. 25, 1959, to Barbara Pate in Yuma, Ariz., and she preceded him in death on April 29, 2001. In 1990, he and his wife moved to the Purdy and Monett area, where he worked at Tyson in Monett and Neosho before retiring.
Survivors include: two daughters, Wendy Leigh Johnson, of Granby, and Vanita Lynn Rodriquez, of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Delores Jackson, of Mesa, Arizona, Betty Gail Harrison, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Patricia Alfonzo, of Jacksonville, Fla.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Dean Thornton, and one brother, Gene Thornton.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the White Funeral Home & Crematory, Cassville.
