CC5K slated for Oct. 5

Wednesday, October 2, 2013

The Clark Community Mental Health Center will host its inaugural 5K run/walk for wellness at 9 a.m. an Saturday, Oct. 5, on the observation of the 50th anniversary of the Community Mental Health Bill, signed by President John F. Kennedy in 1963. The event will kick off at 225 Third St. in Monett.

The bill ensures all people suffering from mental health issues receive community-based care in an environment that best meets the needs of the individual.

The event also hallmarks Clark Center's founder and CEO Frank Compton's 50th year working in social services.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Clark Community Mental Health Center and are tax deductible.

Registration is $100 for a themed team or $25 for individuals. Prizes will be awarded. To register, visit and enter CC5K in the search bar.

Clark Center is also seeking sponsors and donors or volunteers for the event. For more information, call Suzette Huntress at 476-1003.
