Cassville rallies past Aurora

The Cassville Lady Wildcats softball team improved to 6-8 on the season with a 2-1 walk-off win against Aurora on Sept. 19.

Wildcat Jayce Fink earned a hard-fought win. She threw seven innings, allowed eight hits and struck out four.

The Lady Houn' Dawgs scored an unearned run in the top of the fourth inning and made the 1-0 lead stand until the seventh.

Callie Meek led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and Jade Halloway reached on an error. Ashley Ray then reached on a walk to load the bases.

Next, Devyn Calahan settled in for a seven pitch at-bat where she fouled off two two-stroke pitches. Calahan then drew a walk to tie the game.

Kassie Graves then drove the ball to center field to score Halloway and complete the Lady Wildcats victory.

Carl Junction

On Sept. 17 Cassville fell 12-11 to Carl Junction.

The Lady Bulldogs built a 9-6 lead after four and one-half innings.

Cassville responded with five runs in the bottom of the fifth, powered by Ray hitting a two-run double.

However, Carl junction scored three times in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

Ashlea Large collected three singles and drove in two runs in five plate appearances. Ray collected three RBIs and Alesha Cousins added two RBIs.

Cassville will be in action on Sept. 30 at Nixa. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
