Hunter education courses offered

The Missouri Department of Conservation will offer a Hunter Education course starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Crowder College in Cassville.

The day will begin with a four-hour knowledge session for youth 14 years of age and older who have some firearm and hunting experience. The class is open to youths 11 years and older prior to the skills session, which follows at 1 p.m.

Students are encouraged to take on-line hunter preparation courses prior to the class. The on-line training offers information and practice tests.

Students will need to provide proof of age, with either a photo identification or birth certificate. Students must register at least seven days in advance of attending the class at www.register-ed.com or at mdc.mo.gov.

The skills portion of the class will start at 1 p.m. Students must be at least 11 years old or older to attend this class and have completed the basic knowledge (classroom) portion of the course. Students must present a skills session qualifier certificate from the on-line course, a student manual with all of the chapter review questions answered or a skills session qualifier certificate from the Hunter Education classroom session.

Registration for the skills portion of the course must be completed at least seven days in advance of the training.
