James F. "Jim" Collins
James F. "Jim" Collins, 81, of Golden, passed away at his home Friday, Aug. 2, 2013.
He was born in Chicago, Ill., Aug. 7, 1931, the son of Joseph Ferdinand "Joe" and Frances Mathilde (Grosklaus) Collins. On Nov. 12, 1977, he was united in marriage to Diane C. Holmes, who survives.
Additional survivors include: five daughters, Janice Louise Collins, Lorna Lee Collins Baker and her husband, Kendall LeRoy, Maureen Frances Collins and her husband, Mike Acquaviva, Pamela Jane Collins Groh and her husband, Leon, and Beverly Lee Collins; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Charles E. and Laurel Holmes.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Kathleen Molly Collins Schude.
He grew up in Chicago, Ill. He attended Catholic grade school and St. George High School in Evanston, Ill., and then went on to Wright Junior College. During the Korean Conflict, he joined the Navy and was a naval air cadet at Pensacola and the Florida Keys. They retired to Center Lake, Wis., before moving to Golden in 1990.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 12 (noon), Saturday, Aug. 31 in the Elks Lodge, Holiday Island, Ark., under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Rev. John Braun will conduct the services.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the Elks Lodge.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory may be made to the Haven of the Ozarks in care of the funeral home.
