Golden Post Office burglarized last week

Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly and the United States Postal Service is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for breaking into the Golden Post Office between the hours of 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1 and 7:05 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 2.

Thieves entered the facility through an interior door located in the lobby area of the building. The total amount of money or merchandise taken has not been released.

"They cut the phone lines and smashed a door in the lobby," Epperly said. "The Postal Service is offering a significant reward for information leading to the arrenst and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this act. We want to see them behind bars, where they belong."

The Barry-Lawrence Chapter of Crime Stoppers offers rewards of up to $1,000 for tips that lead to the arrest of those wanted for felony crimes. Tips may be submitted by calling 354-TIPS (8477) or toll-free at 1-888-635-TIPS (8477). Tipsters may remain anonymous.

Tips may also be submitted through the Barry-Lawrence Crime Stoppers website at www.blcrimestoppers.com. Web-based tips are ineligible for a reward.
