Thursday, August 15, 2013

Central Crossing Fire Department and J. Brown Disposal will host a benefit fundraiser for a volunteer firefighter and company employee, Don Pluff, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 at the Shell Knob Shrine Club, located on Big Rock Road.

Pluff, who recently lost both his son and his mother in separate events, is now battling a rare form of cancer.

The menu consists of various barbecued meats, side dishes, desserts and beverages. Cost of the meal is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

A drawing for door prizes will also be held. Items in the drawing include a Ruger 10-22 carbine rifle, a brick of .22 ammunition, passes for Silver Dollar City, a cedar bench, a cedar chest, oil changes, marine repair, gift baskets, gift cards and gift certificates from local businesses.

Tickets are available at J. Brown Disposal, Central Crossing Fire Department, Rusty's Auto Parts and Service One Credit Union.

For more information, or to donate items for the drawing, contact Leslie Brown at 417-230-4962 or Rusty Rickard at 417-858-3560.
