Cookbook fundraiser to benefit Wheaton Museum
The Wheaton Historical Society and the Wheaton Depot Museum have announced the publication of the society's new cookbook, "Cooking Past and Present." The cookbook will be available at the 55th annual Wheaton Fireman's BBQ on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Wheaton City Park.
Proceeds from the cookbook will help defray costs of the restoration of the Wheaton Depot Museum, located on Main Street in Wheaton. Members of the Wheaton Historical Society, friends and families have compiled over 500 of their tastiest recipes, from appetizers to dessert, into this single book.
A special feature of the book includes old recipes used by former Wheaton residents from the earliest days of the community.
The book has been dedicated to Wheaton history teacher, Jason Navarro, who has led his students to excel at both state and national history competitions.
The book also includes a short history of the Wheaton Fire Department and the Wheaton Train Depot's restoration.
Cookbooks are $10 each through Saturday, Aug. 24, with the price increasing to $12 after that date.
Cookbooks can be purchased at the Wheaton Depot Museum, Angel Tree Florist and Gail's Beauty Shop in Wheaton, or by calling Sue Wilkins at 652-3736 or Betty Lamberson at 652-7488.
