Dorothy Lavern Jordan
Dorothy Lavern Jordan, 71, of Seligman, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at her home.
She was born in Lowell, Ark., on July 11, 1942, the daughter of Arvel Lloyd and Lucy Dell (Slape) Butler. On June 12, 1960, in Springdale, Ark., she was united in marriage to William Jordan, who survives.
Additional survivors include: her eight children, Keith Jordan, of Seligman, Patricia Wilson and her husband, Mike Burris, of Clay Center, Kan., Kirby Jordan and his wife, Kathleen, of Strafford, Samantha Burris and her husband, Carl, of Clay Center, Kan., Brian Jordan, of Arkansas, Dorothy Jordan and her husband, Benny Hamilton, of Seligman; Levi Jordan, of Bentonville, Ark., and Dennis Jordan and his wife, Maribeth, of Springfield; one brother, Duane Butler, of Bentonville, Ark.; three sisters, Betty Beuring, of Forest Park, Ark., Virginia Weber, of Osage, Ark., and Lucille Gouin, of Norman, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Baby Jordan; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
She grew up in Arkansas and graduated from Springdale High School. She continued her education in Mississippi where she attended college. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, Seligman, and the Eastern Star.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in Rock Springs Baptist Church, Seligman, under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Brother Dale Stover and Brother Reese Morrow conducted the services. Burial was on the family farm at Seligman.
