Mabel Irene Hilburn

Mabel Irene Hilburn, 88, of Exeter, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, in Cassville Health Care and Rehabilitation, Cassville.

She was born March 4, 1925, in Barry County, the daughter of James L. and Nettie Mae (Smith) Taylor. On July 25, 1942, in Exeter, she was united in marriage to Herman Hilburn, who preceded her in death on May 9, 1995. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Diane Gordon; five brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include: four children, Larry David Hilburn and his wife, Jeanette, of Exeter; Howard Lynn Hilburn, of Arlington, Texas; Lana Turner, of Cassville, and Roger Hilburn and his wife, Nancy, of Branson; one brother, Lewis Taylor and his wife, Zelma, of Monett; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She grew up and received her education at Cassville, graduating from Cassville High School. She received her degree in education from Missouri State University and then taught school at Hailey, Wheaton and Jenkins.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Lloyd Birchfield conducted the services. Burial was at Russell Cemetery, Butterfield.
