Health Department conducts inspections

The Environmental Services division of the Barry County Health Department inspected 27 food-service establishments during the month of July. Of that group, 20 establishments had critical violations and four had no critical or non-critical violations.

Facilities having no violations included: Lakeside Marine in Shell Knob, McDonald's and Mocha Jo's Coffee Shop in Monett and Geraldi's in Cassville.

Kings River Golf Course in Shell Knob, Uncle Roy's One Stop in Eagle Rock, and Monett Senior Center in Monett, underwent routine inspections in July, and only non-critical violations were found.

Critical violations were found at 18 establishments:

* L&L Store in Eagle Rock was inspected on July 12, and two critical violations were found. No one ServSafe certified or equivalent on duty; flies too numerous to count were in the seating and kitchen areas. Four non-critical violations were found.

* T-Bones Country Store in Eagle Rock was inspected on July 2, and one critical violation was found. A faucet at the three-vat sink was leaking.

* Sonic in Cassville was subject to a complaint inspection on July 8, and one critical violation was found. An employee was smoking in the dry storage area where exposed single service food articles are stored. One non-critical violation was found.

* Daddy Joe's Catfish Hole in Monett was subject to a pre-opening inspection on July 9, and a permit was issued.

* Burger King in Monett was inspected on July 9, and three critical violations were found. Bacteria growth was in the ice machine; the container storing the ice scoop was not clean; two faucets at the three vat sink were leaking.

* Subway inside of Walmart in Monett was inspected on July 9, and one critical violation was found. Meatballs were not held to proper temperature. One non-critical violation was found.

* Casey's General Store #2058 in Monett was inspected on July 12, and two critical violations were found. Meatballs were not held to proper temperature; no documented discard time for cheeseburger and chicken fingers in the holding unit. Two non-critical violations were found.

* The Family Room in Monett was inspected on July 12, and six critical violations were found. Prime rib was not held to proper temperature; cold items were not held to proper temperature; food items were not labeled with discard dates; uncovered employee beverages were on the food prep table; prep tables, storage shelves and equipment were not clean; the ice machine was leaking. A total of 14 non-critical violations were found.

* VFW #4207 in Monett was inspected on July 12, and two critical violations were found. The ice scoop was not stored in a sanitary manner; juice was not discarded by proper date. Two non-critical violations were found.

* Emory Melton Conference Center in Cassville was inspected on July 16, and two critical violations were found. Sweet potatoes were not discarded by proper date; pork tenders were not held to proper temperature. Two non-critical violations were found.

* Taco Bell #537 in Monett was inspected on July 18, and one critical violation was found. Bacteria growth was on the soda dispensing machine. Two non-critical violations were found.

* Walmart #914 in Cassville was subject to a complaint inspection on July 26, and one critical violation was found. Numerous gnats and flies were inside the donut case.

* Sunrise Family Restaurant in Monett was subject to a complaint inspection on July 26, and four unnamed critical violations were found.

* White Oak Station #18 in Seligman was inspected on July 29, and one critical violation was found. Food items were held without a documented discard time. Two non-critical violations were found.

* Trojan PQ Mart in Washburn was inspected on July 29, and two critical violations were found. Toxic items were stored near food; rodent feces was on cabinets at soda station. Three non-critical violations were found.

* Country Package in Washburn was inspected on July 29, and two critical violations were found. Rodent feces was under the beverage counter; uncovered mouse traps were in use. Three non-critical violations were found.

* Ruby's in Seligman was inspected on July 29, and two critical violations were found. Foods were not held to the proper temperature; no consumer advisory was posted concerning undercooked eggs. Three non-critical violations were found.

* Eben Ezer Mexican Restaurant in Monett was inspected on July 30, and 14 critical violations were found. Employees preparing food did not wash hands between tasks; food items stored uncovered; hot food not held to proper temperature; cold foods not held to proper temperature; no one ServSafe certified on duty; raw meat stored above ready-to-eat foods; raw chicken thawing at room temperature; raw shell eggs stored at room temperature; hazardous foods not labeled with discard dates; food contact surfaces not sanitized; bare hand contact with cut watermelon; toxic product stored next to utensils and napkins; numerous employee beverages on the food prep table. A total of 10 non-critical violations were found.

* Monett Family Restaurant in Monett was inspected on July 30, and four critical violations were found. No one ServSafe certified on duty; sanitizer in kitchen exceeded recommended levels; cold food items not held to proper temperature; two cans of paint stored next to potatoes. Five non-critical violations were found.
