Smith Ann Flanary
Smith Ann Flanary, 65, of Cassville, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.
She was born June 3, 1948, in Clearwater, Fla., the daughter of Charles and Jane (Neustadt) Coolbaugh. On Aug. 28, 1971, in Merriam, Kan., she was united in marriage to Dr. J.C. Flanary, who survives. Additional survivors include: one son, Jay Flanary and his wife, Tommi, of Ocoee, Fla.; her mother, Jane Coolbaugh, of Merriam, Kan.; one brother, John Coolbaugh and his wife, Karen, of Prairie Village, Kan.; and one sister, Mary Murphy and her husband, Todd, of Houston, Texas.
Preceding her in death was her father.
She graduated from Bishop Miege High School in Fairway, Kan. She attended Pittsburg State University in Kansas and then furthered her education at Missouri University and Stephens College in Columbia, where she studied microbiology and sociology. For several years, she was a microbiologist in Kansas City and Kirksville. She later managed her husband's medical practice in Farmington and Cassville. She was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha and Cassville Golf Association.
Services were held Tuesday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville.
