Stubblefield leads area runners at Girls Just Wanna Run 5K

Josie Stubblefield, of Cassville, raced to 67th overall and 13th in the 40 to 49 age group at the Girls Just Wanna Run 5k at Springfield's Phelp's Grove Park on Satur- day, July 20.

The top-finishing Barry County runner, she posted a time of 27:32.

There were 821 official finishers in a race billed as the biggest women's only run in southwest Missouri.

Chloe Andrews, of Springfield, all of 15 years old, was the overall champion, posting a time of 20:38. Rosie Laughlin, 48, also of Springfield, finished second and was the master's champion, finishing in 20:44. Branson's Becky Lowrance was the top

finisher in the over-50 crowd, taking sixth overall in 21:50.

While the majority of runners were from Springfield, participants from all corners of Missouri toed the starting line, joined by women from Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington.

Mattie Stephenson, of Cassville, fin- ished 325th overall and 22nd in the 10 to 14 division, running 36:57.

Cheryl Webb, 44, and Julia Eden, 43, both of Monett, placed 464th and 468th, re- spectively.

Aydreyanna Hill, 24, of Cassville, placed 539th.

Charli Jo Epperly, 36, of Cassville, fin- ished 596th.
