Harold Lavern Pett
Harold Lavern Petty, 62, of Boise, Idaho, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013, from a stroke.
A memorial service in his honor will be held on Aug. 5 at 12 p.m. at the the Clubhouse Event Center, 7311 W. Potomac Dr., Boise, Idaho. A motorcade will follow with the interment at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at 3 p.m.
He was born in Madera, Calif., Jan. 28, 1951, the son of Joy and Alma (Meyers) Petty. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alma, brother, Jimmy, and first wife, Rebecca (Petty) Page. Survivors include: his wife, Debra Brush; sons, Gregory S. Petty, of Nampa, Idaho, and Joseph N. Petty, of Ogden, Utah; father, Joy Petty, of Boise, Idaho; siblings, Rose (Archie) Dunsing, of New Plymouth, Idaho, and John (Teresa) Petty, of Cassville; and uncle Vern and aunt Lois Petty, of Cassville. He graduated from Ukiah High School in 1969 and received a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice administration from Sonoma State University in 1979.
He enlisted in the Army in April 1969. His military career culminated with six years in the Idaho Army National Guard as state provost marshal. He retired in 1996 as a major after completing 26 years of service. From 1973 to 2009, he served as a police officer.
