Two-injured in roll-over crash

A Washburn woman and a child were injured in a single-vehicle wreck at 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, on Farm Road 1010 about five miles west of Washburn.

According to a Missouri Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred when the driver of a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser, Brandie S. Cotton, 22, of Washburn, swerved to avoid a deer, traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned.

Cotton and a passenger in the vehicle, Payten G. Cotton, 4, were taken by private vehicle to Mercy Hospital in Cassville with minor injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.

Other wrecks

* A Washburn teen was hurt in a single vehicle crash on July 12. Colter Stephens, 18, received minor injuries when his 2000 Lincoln LS was headed north

on Highway 37, three miles south of Cassville. The car ran off the roadway at 3:49 a.m., struck a highway sign and came to rest in a fence. Stephens was transported to Mercy Hospital in Cassville for treatment.
