Washburn waterline replacement project nearly finished
On June 17, members of the Washburn City Council heard from James Libertus, public works employee, that the water and wastewater line upgrades are nearly complete.
Aldermen requested Libertus install a two-inch drain with a check valve at the intersection of Highway 90 and Main Street during the relining of the manhole.
Carolyn Tiedeman, of the Washburn Civic Association, stated the organization's next meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 13 at Washburn City Hall.
Mayor John Tiedeman expressed concern about employee safety in the event of a tornado. Aldermen approved installation of a safe room at an approximate cost of $5,100.00.
City Clerk Julie Grillone reminded aldermen of a schedule change with future council meetings slated for the third Thursday of each month.
