Annual BC land tax sale to be held
The annual Barry County Land Tax Sale is scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26 at the Barry County Courthouse in Cassville, according to County Collector Janice Varner. The land sale will be advertised in the Cassville Democrat for three consecutive weeks beginning on July 17. After publication, copies of the properties for sale will be available in the collector's office.
ERGM Fire District to host fireworks
The Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Fire Protection District will host its annual Fired Up and Smokin' fireworks display on Friday, July 5 at the Highway 86 bridge over Table Rock Lake at Eagle Rock starting at dusk. A barbecue will be held earlier in the day at the Eagle Rock Fire Station beginning at 11 a.m.
Barry County Democrats to meet
The Barry County Democrat Club will hold its annual picnic at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 11 at Rocky Edmondson Memorial Park in Cassville. Meat, bread, drinks and table service will be furnished. Seligman plans Independence Day event
The City of Seligman and the Seligman Chamber of Commerce are partnering to present a Fourth of July Celebration on Saturday, July 6 at the Seligman Community Building. The special event will start at 6 p.m. Activities include free food, a hot dog eating contest, yard games, a cake walk, bouncy houses, a water slide, live music and fireworks at dark. The community is invited to attend this free celebration.
Car club to hold monthly meeting
The Cassville Cruisers car club will hold its monthly meeting at Roaring River State Park on Tuesday, July 9. Members and guests are invited to bring a picnic meal, which will be enjoyed at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. Area car enthusiasts are invited to meet at the Barry County Museum at 5:30 p.m. so the group can "cruise" to the park together.
Ribbon-cutting planned at Casey's
Casey's General Store, located at 33 S. Main St. in Cassville, is the newest member of the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the convenience store at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9. Chamber members and the public are invited to attend.
Red Cross blood drives planned
The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 2 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 11 at Tyson Foods, Inc., in Monett.
CBCO hosts two area blood drives
Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will hold two blood drives in the coming week. The first blood drive will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 5 at the Fairview Mennonite School on Highway HH in Fairview. The second will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, July 8 at Mercy Hospital Cassville.
Road districts to hold meetings
The Mineral Springs Road District will meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 11 at the district road barn. The Corsicana Special Road District will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2 in the Purdy Community Building. Both meetings are open to the public.
Vietnam veterans to hold meeting
The local Vietnam Veterans Chapter #1023 will meet at 4 p.m. on July 7 at Angus Branch Restaurant, formerly Grant's, in Monett. All veterans are invited to attend. For more information, call Paul at 471- 271-3835.
Waste management district to meet
The Southwest Missouri Solid Waste Management District will hold its regularly scheduled executive board meeting at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9 at Alice Irene's Restaurant in Marionville. The meeting is open to the public.
SK student graduates from Linn Sate
Jordan Ratliff, of Shell Knob, was among the spring graduates at Linn State Technical College, Missouri's only state technical college.
Seligman dance to be held on July 11
The Seligman Lions Club Dance, which is usually held on the first Thursday of the month, will be held one week later on July 11 due to the July Fourth holiday. The monthly dance will return to its regular date in August. The dance on July 11 will begin at 7 p.m. at the Seligman Community Building and will feature Frosty Garland and the Road Hogs. CHS Class of 2008 records to be purged
Cassville High School will be purging the cumulative school records for the graduating Class of 2008. Those who want their records must pick them up in person at the high school between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. by July 31. Those who are unable to pick them up in person and would like someone else to do it for them must give that person a signed request before the school can release the records. In addition, anyone who should have graduated with the Class of 2008 but dropped out may also pick up their records.
Monett to host fireworks celebration
A Freedom and Fireworks celebration will be held on Thursday, July 4 in Monett's South Park. Activities begin at 11 a.m. with the annual Monett Lions Club barbecue chicken feed. There will be a free swim at the Monett City Pool and music by various groups, including Felonious Monk. A patriotic speech will be delivered by First Lieutenant Ben Lesue. Fireworks will begin at dusk.
