Trout Run bike tour returns to Cassville
The Trout Run Charity Bicycle Tour from Neosho to Cassville and back will take place Sept. 21. This is the second year Access Family Care is sponsoring the charity ride with proceeds going to help provide dental care for uninsured disadvantaged children and the Joplin Trails Coalition.
The full bike tour begins at the Neosho National Fish Hatchery, travels to Cassville and then back to the hatchery in Neosho. The
103-mile course has six rest stops along the way. Shorter routes of 25 and 54 miles are also available.
Early registration prior to Aug. 1 is $30 with standard registration set at $35. Goody bags will be given out to the first 150 riders who sign up for the tour. Riders must wear a cycling helmet to be a part of the tour.
Tour sponsor Access Family Care, with clinics in Anderson, Cassville, Joplin and Neosho, currently provides dental care to underprivileged children. Partial proceeds from the Trout Run Charity Bicycle Tour will help offset the costs of providing this free service to school-age children.
Additional proceeds from the tour will go to the Joplin Trails Coalition. The coalition maintains biking and walking trails around the Joplin and Carthage areas. Current projects for the group include the Frisco Greenway Trail and the Ruby Jack Trail.
In addition to Access Family Care, sponsors for the tour include: Harris Insurance Agency, Bicycle Specialists and Neosho National Fish Hatchery.
