A boil order advisory, in effect since Monday, June 24, for all customers in the Missouri American Water Ozark Mountain #1 service area in Shell Knob has been lifted.

According to Christie L. Barnhart, external affairs manager for Missouri American Water in Joplin, water samples have confirmed the water is safe for consumption.

"It is no longer necessary for customers to boil their water before drinking or cooking," Barnhart said.

During this boil water advisory, Missouri American Water conducted a series of tests in the affected area to ensure water met regulatory drinking water standards set by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

The advisory affected approximately 200 residences. This advisory did not apply to Missouri American Water residents in Ozark Mountain #2 or #3.
