New McDonald's could open in September

With good weather, area residents may expect the return of a Cassville landmark, McDonald's, by the end of September.

According to Bill Matthews, co-owner of the Cassville franchise, the restaurant will be quite a bit bigger than its predecessor, that burned on March 10, just prior to a grand re-opening to celebrate the facility's recent remodel.

"We're about ready to get started on the demolition," Matthews said. "All of the existing landscaping and concrete parking area will be removed. We are going to start completely new, from the dirt up."

The new restaurant plans call for an additional 700 square feet of space, offering a larger dining area and bigger restroom facilities.

"The typical time frame for a new McDonald's is 90 to 100 days," Matthews said. "Weather permitting, we tentatively plan to open in late September."

All employees of the Cassville McDonald's had the option of relocating to another one of the other McDonald's restaurants in northwest Arkansas until the Cassville facility is rebuilt.
