Rotary rodeo action returns to Cassville
Cowboys and cowgirls from across the four-state area will gather at the Bill Hailey Arena in Cassville on Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22 for the 71st annual Cassville Rotary Rodeo.
Sanctioned by the IPRA and ACRA, this year's rodeo will feature bareback, saddlebronc, bull riding, calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling, cowgirl barrel racing and cowgirl break-away roping. The popular calf scramble for children under 10 also will return.
"We just got in the list of cowboys and cowgirls who will be participating on Friday and Saturday nights, and it's the largest group we've had in 10 years," said Stan Kelley, Rotary Rodeo Committee chairman. "The number of participants is just outstanding."
Hampton Rodeo Co., the IPRA stock producer of the year from Springdale, Ark., again will provide quality stock for the two-night event.
Kelley said he also received confirmation that The Rounders, a drill team on horseback out of northwest Arkansas, will be peforming both nights.
"That will surely be a crowd pleaser for those who come out for the rodeo," said Kelley.
Rodeo action begins at 8 p.m. nightly. Tickets at the gate are $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 6 to 12. Children under 6 are admitted free.
Advance tickets can be purchased at a $2 discount per adult ticket from any Rotary Club member.
"The Rotarians have been working hard to get the arena in good shape and we're looking forward to a great weekend of rodeo action," Kelley added.
Bill Hailey Arena is located on Business 37 north of Cassville.
