CHS Class of 1993 to host reunion

The Cassville High School Class of 1993 will hold its 20-year class reunion on June 29 at the Cassville Golf Course clubhouse. Activities start at 5 p.m. with a group photo at 6 p.m. and a barbecue dinner at 6:30 p.m. The cost for the dinner is $15 per person, and those who plan to attend are to RSVP to Jeff Duncan at jduncan@parkwayschools.net by June 22 or go the Cassville Twenty Year Reunion page on Facebook for more information. All classmates are encouraged to attend.

BC Council on Aging to meet

The Barry County Council on Aging will hold its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25 at the Cassville Health Care & Rehab Center, located at 1300 County Farm Road. One of the topics of new business will be a report from the nominating committee on election results.

Seligman Chamber plans swap meet

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce will hold a swap meet on Friday, June 28 and Saturday, June 29 at the Seligman Chamber Event Center on Highway 37. Booth rent is $30 for two days inside or outside. Tables are available. For more information or to reserve a space, call 417-662-3612 or 479-381-2133.

CHS grad named to C of O honors list

Rachel Sanders, of Jenkins, was named to the College of the Ozarks' President's List for the spring 2013 semester. Sanders is a graduate of Cassville High School. To qualify for the honor, students must maintain a 4.0 grade point average during the semester.

Retired teachers group to meet

The Barry County Retired School Personnel will hold its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 21 at The Family Room Steakhouse on West Highway 60 in Monett. The guest speaker is Walt Cochran, president of the Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation. Lawrence County members will the group's guests. Funds will be collected to assist teachers and students affected by the Moore, Okla., tornado.

Local students graduate from UCM

A pair of students from Barry County graduated from the University of Central Missouri during 2013 spring commencement on May 10 and 11. Area graduates include: Daniel Colby Powers, of Cassville, master of science; and Kelsey V. Henry, of Cassville, bachelor of science in education.

Red Cross blood drives planned

American Red Cross blood drives will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25 at the Crowder College Cassville Campus and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 28 at Arvest Bank in Cassville. All donors are encouraged to give blood.

CBCO hosts two area blood drives

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will host two blood drives on Tuesday, June 25. The first drive will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Cox Monett Hospital, and the second will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. at Lowe's in Monett.

Mini hot rod pull planned in Seligman

Ruby's Event Park in Seligman will be the site of a mini hot rod pull at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, sponsored by the Seligman Chamber of Commerce. Purdy alumni plan annual meeting

The Purdy Schools Alumni Association will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, June 29 at the school. Registration and fellowship will be from 6 to 6:30 p.m. followed by the program from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Classes will be recognized by years, three scholarships will be awarded, and there will be discussion of old and new business. The honored class will be the Class of 1963. Hosts for the evening are members of the Class of 1962.

Local photographer to offer class

Jeremy Huse Photography will offer a Photography 101 class from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 at Sho-Me Plaza in Cassville. The class will cover how to properly use a camera, and those attending will have the opportunity to shoot pictures and get feedback from Huse. The cost to attend is $75. A number of students from Barry County were named to the dean's list at Missouri State University for the spring 2013 semester. Honor students included: Jessica Walker, of Aurora; Sarah Allen, Jordan Bailey, Courtney Beagle, Knowland Burbridge, Vannessa Hancock, Rebecca Haney, Zachary Harris, Donna Moore, Matthew Stewart and Marissa Tucker, all of Cassville; Nicole Fletcher, of Exeter; Yee Lee, of Fairview; Tiffany Sujkowski and Rylie Wilks, both of Golden; Sarah Aldridge, Brooke Chrisman, Kristyn Cornman, Lara Ellis, Melissa Gaspar, Tiffany Gorman, Cameren Hawkins, Kyla Launius, Juan Renteria, Carley Tilley, David Valenciano and Amanda Wood, all of Monett; Chee Yang, of Rocky Comfort; Alexandria Jauregui-Dusseau, of Seligman; Tara Drossel-Stanfield and Kimberly Miller, both of Shell Knob; and Jason Cockrum and Jared Hinde, both of Washburn. To qualify for the dean's list, a student must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.5.
