Purdy Festival plans are underway
The Purdy community is preparing for the second annual Purdy Festival, which will be held on Saturday, July 20.
The Purdy Festival committee activity schedule includes free carnival rides, water activities, a petting zoo for the kids and many different types of booths set up by the local school clubs and churches.
For the older kids and adults there will be a bathtub race and classic/antique car show.
The air conditioned north gym will be open for a farmer's market and arts and crafts booths. There will be a 5K run, slow-pitch softball tournament and a sand volleyball tournament.
To honor local veterans, a reception will be held.
Bands will be providing entertainment throughout the day. The Purdy Fire Department, one of the many vendors, will cook a chicken barbecue dinner, and there will be a barbecue cook-off contest.
The annual Purdy Livestock Show will be held for the first time in the air conditioning of the south gym.
The day will end with a concert in the park.
Participation in the festival event is open, and anyone wishing to compete or exhibit is encouraged to contact the committee by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling Laura Hensley at 417-442-3216, ext. 277.
