Howard Delwin Hathaway
Howard Delwin Hathaway, 84, of Shell Knob, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
He was born on Sept. 17, 1928, son of Delwin and Rebecca (Graybill) Hathaway in Onawa, Iowa. He was a 1944 graduate of Castana High School, Castana, Iowa. He married Wilma Gover, who preceded him in death on July 15, 2007. He married Irene Fisher in January 2008, and she survives.
Additional survivors include: his three daughters, Jackie Hathaway and her husband, Garry, of Sarasota, Fla., Penny Stanislav and her husband, Bernie, of Kimberling City, and Colleen Langenfeld and her husband, Dennis, of Monument, Colo.; his four stepdaughters, Lavetta Phillips and her husband, Rodney, of Shell Knob, Deborah Driskill and her husband, Mickey, of Moore, Okla., Alvina Walker and her husband, Charles, of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Tina Pierson, of Joplin; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Skow and Jean Johnston, both of Council Bluffs, Iowa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Warren Hathaway, Donald Hathaway and Francis Hathaway.
Services were held Monday at the First Christian Church in Shell Knob with Pastor Tom Rees and Pastor Lonnie Stockton officiating. Burial was held today (Wednesday) in Onawa, Iowa. Services were also held Wednesday at the Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
