Washburn aldermen aprove hand-held radar purchase

On April 15, Washburn City Clerk Julie Grillone presided over giving the oath of office to incumbents and new aldermen at the regular meeting of the Washburn City Council.

Officials sworn in during the meeting included: John Tiedeman, mayor; Mary Roller, east ward alderman; and Jeremy Johnston, west ward alderman. Each will serve a two-year term.

Alderman Gerald Hinde was named mayor pro tem.

Officer Terry Burgess reported the police department needed a handheld radar device to compliment the stationary radar equipment. Cost of the handheld and stationary units would be $2,600. Aldermen approved the request.

It was announced the Washburn Civic Association would meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13 inside Washburn City Hall.
