FCA students help tornado victims

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

Southwest High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) officers recently held a canned food drive and money collection to benefit the victims of the Moore, Okla., tornado. The collections took place at the Cassville and Seligman branches of Freedom Bank. In addition to collecting several canned goods, $520 was raised. Pictured above, from left, with a check for Convoy of Hope are: FCA members Ashley Holliday, Blake Barnes, Brad Daniels, Orion Lawyer and Brittney Holliday. Unavailable for pictures were Montana Hendrix, Shannon Mitchell, John Mulkey, Lauren Mitchell, Randi Woods, Brandy Garcia and Jaime Shrum. Officers who helped set up the drive were following the message found in Matthew 25:35-40: "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'" FCA would like to thank Freedom Bank for hosting the drive and all of the people who donated.
