Checkpoints to be used in June

Wednesday, May 22, 2013

Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly has announced that several sobriety checkpoints will be held in the county during June. The sheriff's office will conduct the checkpoints in cooperation with other local law enforcement agencies.

"Driving while intoxicated checkpoints are a great tool in removing the intoxicated driver from Missouri's highways," said Epperly.

Checkpoints will be established at various locations that have been found to experience a higher than normal number of alcohol-related contacts.

Epperly encourages community members who suspect a motorist of driving while intoxicated to call 911 or 847-3121. Area residents interested in reporting a drunk driver can also call the Missouri State Highway Patrol's toll-free emergency number, which is 1-800-525-5555 or dial *55 on a cell phone.
