Aquatic center opens Saturday

The Cassville YMCA will kick off the 2013 swim season at the Cassville Aquatic Center at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The pool will be open until 8 p.m.

This year's open swim hours are the same as the hours offered in 2012. In addition to being open from 1 to 8 p.m. each Saturday, the aquatic center will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday through Friday.

Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied to the aquatic center by an adult or guardian who is at least 16 years of age.

Daily passes for swimmers over the age of 2 will be $4, which is the same as the 2012 admission cost. Cassville YMCA members will have free access to the aquatic center throughout the summer.

Season passes can be purchased at the Cassville YMCA on Highway 248 in Cassville. Single-person season passes are $70, and family season passes are $175.

Families are invited to swim at a reduced price during Family Nights, which will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. each Saturday. Admission for the two-hour swim time is $5 per family. Family season pass holders can take part in the events at no cost.

The Learn-to-Swim Program will be offered at the aquatic center again this summer. Three levels of instruction will be offered to 3- to 5-year-old students, and four swim levels will be offered for children who are over 6 years of age.

Swim sessions are 2013 are as follows: session one, June 3 through June 13; session two, June 17 through June 27; session three, July 8 through July 18; and session four, July 22 through Aug. 1.

All swim lessons are held at noon and 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Classes last around 45 minutes. YMCA members can take part in swim lessons for $25 per session. The fee for non-members is $50 per session.

Private swim lessons, which cost $90 for six lessons, are offered by appointment. Private lessons give students an opportunity to improve techniques and endurance during one-on-one sessions.

Aquababies, aquasize and guard start classes will also be offered at 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Aquababies, which is for children ages 6 months to 3 years of age and their parents, and aquasize classes will be open to YMCA members at no cost. Non-members can participate for $25 per session.

Guard start classes, which are for 11- to 16-year old students interested in working at the pool in the future, are offered to YMCA members for $25 per session. The fee for non-members is $50 per session.

Lap swim hours will be offered from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Lap swims cost $1 per visit. Lanes should be reserved in advance.

Area community members are invited to rent the Cassville Aquatic Center for private parties. Rental fees, which cover staffing and use of the slides, will be $125 for the first hour and $100 for each additional hour this year. The pool can be rented in one-hour increments only. Parties can include up to 150 people.

Through the Cassville YMCA's partnership with the City of Cassville two free swim days will be offered at the aquatic center this summer. Area families are invited to swim at no cost on the Fourth of July. The aquatic center will also offer free admission on Sunday, Aug. 11, which is the last day of the 2013 swim season.
