Mike Wood, 61, of Cassville, formerly of Ft. Worth, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in Cassville Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Oct. 8, 1951, in San Angelo, Texas, the son of William Doyle and Bonnie (Addams) Wood. On June 4, 1977, in Ft. Worth, Texas, he was united in marriage to Marolyn Beeson, who survives.
Additional survivors include: one daughter, Jennifer Wood McBroom and her husband, Tony, of Clarksville, Tenn.; one son, Kyle Wood and his wife, Emily, of Cassville; two brothers, Danny Wood, of Moran, Texas, and Clifton Wood, of Albany, Texas; two sisters, Ann Wood, of Stephenville, Texas, and Bonnie Rodgers, of Eastland, Texas; three grandchildren; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Margaret Beeson, of Cassville.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
He grew up and received his education in Stephenville, Texas, where he graduated from high school in 1971. In 1975, he received his bachelor of science degree from Tarleton State University. Most of his adult life he lived in Ft. Worth, Texas. He taught and coached football, power lifting and golf in and around Ft. Worth for 22 years. In 2004, he was inducted into the Stephenville High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Upon his retirement in 2006, he and Marolyn moved to Cassville to make their home.
He was a member of Cassville United Methodist Church where funeral services were held Saturday, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor Andy Lambel conducted the services. Burial was at Mineral Springs Cemetery, Cassville.
Also memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, in South Hills Christian Church, 3200 Bilglade Road, Ft. Worth, Texas. Pastor Dottie Cook will conduct the services.
