Area schools gearing up for summer sessions
Several area schools are gearing up to hold summer classes starting in May.
The Cassville R-4 District summer school classes will begin on May 29 and continue through June 21.
Breakfast and lunch will be served free to students from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., before classes get underway. Daily activities will conclude at 3 p.m.
Bus routes will run if there are enough student passengers interested in riding.
Route #1 will make stops at Ball and Prier, Conoco/P&23, The Eagle Rock Post Office and Hilltop L&L.
Route #2 will pick up passengers at the First Street Christian Church, at the intersection of Rainbow Drive, First Street and West Street in Cassville and the Butterfield Community Building in Butterfield.
Route #3 will make stops at the Kwik Stop in Jenkins, the intersection of 248 and C Highway, the intersection of Oak Ridge and Highway 248 and the intersection of 13th Street and Highway 248.
Programs are designed to accelerate student learning and ensure students are prepared to meet state and district goals.

Purdy Summer School
Purdy R-2 School District will also be holding classes starting on May 28 and continuing Monday through Friday until June 28.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided to anyone in the district 18 years of age and younger, even if they are not enrolled in summer classes.
The district will utilize the Edison Program again this year for students in kindergarten through ninth grade. Some high school students will also be enrolled in special projects throughout the summer session.
Regular transportation routes will be run during summer school.

Shell Knob Summer School
Shell Knob District #78 will be hosting summer classes from Tuesday through Friday on May 28 through May 31, and Monday through Thursday from June 3 through June 27.
Breakfast will be served from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. Classes begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. Charger time will follow from 2 to 5 p.m. Students will visit the library each Tuesday afternoon during summer classes, and two field trips are planned.
Designated stops are planned for each neighborhood for transportation. Door-to-door service will not be provided.

Wheaton Summer School
Wheaton Elementary School will hold summer classes June 3 through June 26.
Breakfast will be served at 7:40 a.m. and classes will begin at 8 a.m.
Classes will dismiss at 3:10 p.m.
Bus transportation will be provided for students living more than a mile from the school.
Field trips are one highlight of this year's summer session, as well as Friday drawings for prizes.
