Volunteer board members needed

Thursday, May 16, 2013

The Barry County Council on Aging (BCCOA ) is preparing for its annual election of board members. The council serves senior citizens in their homes throughout the county.

The council offers home work to keep senior homes safe and healthy, respite and personal care that does not require professional services and transportation to doctor appointments. The council also reimburses volunteer drivers for mileage expenses associated with delivery meals to homebound seniors.

The BCCOA Board is responsible for budgeted money that is provided through the Barry County Senior Citizens Service Fund Board and the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging.

Volunteer board members are needed throughout Barry County. Each senior center is represented and at-large members serve on the board.

Individuals interested in serving on the board should mail a letter of intent to BCCOA, 1111 Fair Street, Cassville, MO 65625 by May 28.

For more information, call Linda Pelzel, BCCOA secretary, at 847-2229.
