Ruby Skogsberg, 87, of Springfield, formerly of Shell Knob, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

She was born June 23, 1925, in Leaf River, Ill., to Barney and Lila (Wickam) Baker. On Feb. 2, 1946, in Rockford, Ill., she was united in marriage to Sigurd G. "Sig" Skogsberg, who preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 2006. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Biven; two brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include: two sons, Brian Skogsberg and his wife, Linda, of Byron, Ill., and Gordy Skogsberg and his wife, Jenitia, of Springfield; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She grew up and received her education in Illinois, graduating from high school in Leaf River, Ill. In 1979, she moved from Byron, Ill., to Shell Knob. She was a member of Central Community United Methodist Church in Shell Knob, and she worked for years as a cashier at the grocery store.

Funeral services were held Thursday in Central Community United Methodist Church, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Pastor Barry Fielder conducted the services. Burial was at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
