On Friday, Arning Companies, Inc., celebrated its 30th anniversary by offering employees a picnic lunch and several fun teamwork building activities.

"We have been successful because of the people who work for us," said Randy Stockton, who owns the business with Kenyon Atkinson. "The people of southwest Missouri are very dedicated people, and they have made this business a success."

Arning Companies, Inc., was founded by Fred Arning, an avid fisherman from the Kansas City area who fell in love with Cassville while visiting the area on a recreational trip.

"He chose this area because of its close proximity to Table Rock Lake," said Stockton. "He even bought a house on the lake."

Arning began as a business that built convenience store canopies, but over the last 30 years has expanded into a variety of product lines.

"Arning has gone from one product line to 10 lines," said Stockton. "We work with Casey's, Kum and Go and Hy-Vee exclusively, and we work with Sonic.

"We also have our own product, DecoShield, which is an automotive industry product," continued Stockton. "Mayse Automotive just went through an extensive remodeling, and we provided everything you see on the outside. It's an imaging system for dealerships."

In addition to the expanding product line, Stockton said the business has completed a large number of automation and technology upgrades to its manufacturing side over the last 30 years.

Arning Companies, Inc., employs 70 individuals.

Although the cool, wet weather that brought a few inches of snow to Barry County on Friday required Arning to cancel its outdoor anniversary celebration, the business offered an indoor picnic lunch catered by the BBQ Station. Employees were entertained by a hypnotist and had the opportunity to take part in a tug of war contest and an obstacle course activity.
