One killed, three injured in area wrecks

A Shell Knob man is dead following a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 6:35 a.m. on Friday on Highway 86 about three miles west of Lampe.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the driver of a 1998 Nissan Frontier pickup truck, Larry D. Verlin, 53, of Shell Knob, crossed the centerline and was struck on the passenger side of his vehicle by a 2008 Bluebird school bus, driven by Johnny C. Bilyeu, 49, of Oak Grove, Ark. There were no children on the bus.

Verlin was pronounced dead at 8:06 a.m. by Dr. Warner at Cox Hospital in Berryville, Ark.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Other crashes

* A Purdy man was injured in a single-vehicle crash that occurred at 11:05 a.m. on Friday at Farm Road 1090 about two miles south of Midway. The crash occurred when the driver of a 1997 Ford F150, Jose Rodriguez-Hernandez, 58, of Purdy, traveled off the left side of the road and struck an embankment. Rodriguez-Hernandez was taken by private vehicle to Cox Monett Hospital with moderate injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.

* A Seligman man was injured in a single-vehicle crash that occurred at 7:35 p.m. on Saturday at Heritage Heights Road in Seligman. The crash occurred when the driver of a 2011 Hyundai Accent, Samuel J. Calison, age not available, of Seligman, ran off the road and struck a tree. Calison was transported to Mercy Hospital in Cassville with moderate injuries.

* An Aurora woman was injured in a single-vehicle crash that occurred at 12:25 a.m. on Sunday on Highway 39 about three miles south of Aurora. The crash occurred when the driver of a 2001 Dodge Durango, Mary V. Hetz-Campbell, 47, of Aurora, ran off the roadway and struck a fence and a tree. Hetz-Campbell was taken to Cox Hospital South in Springfield with moderate injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.
