National Travel and Tourism Week

Wednesday, May 8, 2013

Dear editor,

Cassville has recently gained state-wide attention when Roaring River State Park was selected through an on-line poll as the state's favorite trout park. Not only are our businesses and residents fortunate enough to have a beautiful state park in our back yard, our community is also able to reap the benefits of having tourism in our area.

According to the United States Travel Association, travel and tourism generates $1.9 trillion for our economy and supports 14.4 million American jobs. One out of every eight jobs in the U.S. depends on travel and tourism. More than lodging or transit, travelers provide revenue for restaurants, parks, museums and other attractions while visiting destinations across the country. Our community is fortunate enough to enjoy the benefits of tourism.

The first full week of May (May 4 through May 12) is annually recognized as National Travel and Tourism Week, a tradition first celebrated in 1984. The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce would like to take this opportunity to thank not only those who travel to Cassville, but also extend our appreciation to those businesses that provide the foundation for tourism in our area.

We appreciate the hospitality shown by all of our chamber members, but wanted to take a minute to especially thank the following chamber member businesses that largely support tourism in our community: America's Best Value Inn and Suites, Angler's Lodge, Bear Crossing Cabin, Barry County Museum, Budget Inn, Campbell Point Marina, Cassville Golf Course, Cassville Motor Inn, Cassville YMCA and Aquatic Park, Cedar Hill Cabins, Holiday Island Vacation Rental, Lazy Eagle Resort, Making Memories Tours, Mark Twain National Forest, Oak Hill Court and RV Park, Paradise Valley Camping Club, Promised Land Zoo, Roaring River Resort, Roaring River State Park, Rock Village Court and RV Park, Roaring River Inn and Convention Center, the Roaring River Store, Sportsman's Corner and Tim's Fly Shop.

For a complete membership listing, visit www.cassville.com or pick up a vacation and relocation guide at the chamber office, located at 504 Main Street.

Thank you to our community for making Cassville a tourism destination.
