A new administrator has been named at the Cassville Senior Center.

Adena Cox-Holloway was named to the position by the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging on April 3.

Cox-Holloway was previously employed as a social services designee at Ashley Health and Rehab in Rogers, Ark., and at Cassville Health and Rehab in Cassville.

"I sort of fell into the opportunity at Barry County Care Center and learned I had a love for working with seniors," Cox-Holloway said. "I really like it."

For now, Cox-Holloway is spending time adjusting to the new position.

"There is a lot to learn," she said. "I'm getting familiar with everyone here at the center and learning there are a lot of warm, funny people here. They have been very welcoming."

Cox-Holloway is looking to change a few things at the center, and researching options for the annual fundraiser that provides most of the funding for maintenance and operations of the facility.

"I'm asking people here at the center and in the community what they would like to see," Cox-Holloway said. "I've had lots of input from people concerning improvements and the addition of programs and activities at the center."

The center serves over 2,000 meals per month to seniors, both at the center and through the meal-delivery program for homebound seniors.

"We provide an enormous amount of services," Cox-Holloway said. "Fundraisers are absolutely mandatory in light of the current budget cuts. We're looking at several options to achieve that."

Cox-Holloway said the center is always seeking additional volunteers to assist with fundraising, meal delivery and other senior services.

"We're looking at bringing the community into the center for an event of some kind," Cox-Holloway said. "We also have events that are open to the public, such as painting and quilting. I'd like to see some people join those activities."

Cos-Holloway said she is thrilled to be named administrator of the Cassville Senior Center.

"I'm lucky I get to come here and be a part of all this every day," she said. "There are good people and a lot of resources here."

The Cassville Senior Center is open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Lunch is served on those days from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
