Exeter aldermen approve Amend 417resolution

Wednesday, May 1, 2013

Exeter aldermen adopted a resolution in support of the Amend 417 campaign at their March 13 meeting.

The Amend 417 movement calls to abolish corporate personhood and re-establish that only people are entitled to inalienable constitutional rights, money is not free speech and regulating political contributions is not equivalent to limiting free speech.

Jim Burnett, a former Missouri State Highway Patrolman, is spearheading the local movement of Move to Amend 417.

In other business, aldermen unanimously approved a proposal from the Exeter Fire Department to assume ownership of the Exeter Community Building.

In routine matters, aldermen:

* Approved the bank reconciliation as presented.

* Paid February bills.

* Reviewed bank balances.
