Local students to be honored at Quill ceremony
The Crowder Quill will host its annual awards ceremony in the Wright Conference Center at the Crowder College Campus in Neosho from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 9. The public is invited to attend the event, which will include the Quill's third annual campus and community-wide poetry reading.
Individuals who would like to read poetry during the awards ceremony should contact Latonia Bailey, Crowder Quill advisor, at email@example.com. Additional poetry readers who do not reserve a time slot will be invited to the microphone as time permits.
Poetry that is not published in the 2013 edition of the Quill can be read during the event.
A PowerPoint presentation, showcasing the winning photography and art entries, will be shown during the awards ceremony.
The event will also include the announcement of all entries that were chose to be published in the 2013 edition of the Crowder Quill. Authors and artists of published entries will receive certificates for gold, silver, bronze or honorable mention.
A light lunch will be served after the awards ceremony. The magazine will be unveiled during the lunch.
The following Barry County community members will be honored for their winning literary or art entries: Sharyn Crouch, of Cassville; Catherine Meyer, of Exeter; and Steven Chapman, Amy Sampson, Jennifer Campbell, Cary Jenkins and Jessica Schmidt, all of Monett.
The Crowder Quill, which was founded in 1980, is published each spring. The contest deadline is Feb. 1. Contest divisions include high school students, Crowder College students and community members.
Authors and artists can enter the following categories: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, two-dimensional art, three-dimensional art, digital art, color photography and black and white photography.
