Mayor signs GFWC proclamation
Cassville Mayor Bill Shiveley signed a General Federation of Women's Club (GFWC) anniversary proclamation at the GFWC Silver Leaf Benefit Club meeting on April 16. GFWC was formed on April 24, 1890, and chartered by President William McKinley and the United States Congress on March 3, 1901. The organization is designed to empower women and emphasizes leadership, volunteerism, civic consciousness, public service and recording women's history. Silver Leaf Benefit Club, a chapter of the international organization, have been involved in Cassville community improvement, education, local charities and archival preservation since the club was founded 105 years ago. Silver Leaf Benefit Club officers are: Jean Marney, president; Sherry Johnson, vice president; Ella Dean Lauderdale, secretary; and Mary Lou Adams, treasurer.
