Local students earn awards at agriculture judging conference

Crowder College Agriculture students participated in the 2013 North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Judging Conference at Texas Tech University's College of Agriculture Sciences and Natural Resources facility April 3 through April 5.

The livestock management team, which included Jessica Schad, of Monett, earned fourth place at the competition. Other members of the team were: Colton Spencer, of Stark City; Carter Boatright, of Neosho; and Jared Sage, of Neosho, who earned overall high honors at the contest.

The crops judging team, which included Jamie Gundel, of Washburn, and Cody Cantwell, of Purdy, achieved fifth place at the event. Other members of the team are: Kyle Rummens, of Mansfield; and Sage.

Crowder College's dairy judging team, which did not include any local students, earned third place at the judging conference. Team members were: Victoria Giebler, of Neoho; Rummens; Spencer; and Boatright.

Travis Wormington, of Monett, also competed at the conference in the horse judging event.

Community college students from 15 schools across the country participated in the NACTA Judging Conference.
