Elijah Carl "Cotton" Funcannon, 83, of Cassville, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.
|He was born April 29, 1929, in Decker, Ind., the son of Ralph B. and Vivian F. (Rose) Funcannon. On June 30, 1949, in Peoria, Ill., he was united in marriage to Joanne Marie Woosley, who survives.||Additional survivors include: three sons, Carl Michael Funcannon and his wife, Diane, of Cassville, Rick Allen Funcannon and his wife, Lisa, of Lacon, Ill., and Scott Bradley Funcannon and his wife, Lisa, of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Barbara Tidd and her husband, David, of Las Vegas, Nev.; three brothers, Doyle Funcannon, of Joplin, Ron Funcannon, of Metamora, Ill., and Robert Funcannon, of Boncarbo, Colo.; one sister, Sharon Hensley, of Milan, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren.|
Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Connie Misner.
He grew up in Illinois and was a 1948 graduate of Woodruff High School. He served in the Air National Guard. For 33 years, he was employed with Caterpillar Tractor as an electrician, retiring in 1980. In 1981, he moved to Cassville to make his home. He served as a Boy Scout Leader, was a Little League and Pony League coach, an Upward basketball coach and a Christian clown. He was a member of the Cassville First Baptist Church. He was a jail minister and a deacon until his health made it impossible for him to serve.
Services were held today (Wednesday) in First Baptist Church, Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Pastor James Weaver conducted the services.
