Evelyn Charlotta Killion, 99, of Rocky Comfort, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Anderson.

She was born March 16, 1914, in Newton County, the daughter of Charlie H. and Lottie H. (Arfstrom) Payne. On Sept. 19, 1931, she was united in marriage to Charlie Killion, who preceded her in death in 1974. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Gary Don Killion; one daughter, JoAnn Swearingen; siblings, Clyde, Selma, Alma, Earl, Ocie and Lola Mae Payne; and one granddaughter.

Survivors include: two grandsons; three granddaughters; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She grew up in rural Fairview, and attended school until the eighth grade. After marrying Charlie, they ran a gas station in Springfield, which also included an adjoining inn. They later settled on Indian Creek in Rocky Comfort in the 1930s. She was instrumental in the success of the Stella Senior Citizens Center, serving in every capacity and served on the board of directors for the center. She was a member of Church of Christ at Rocky Comfort.

Funeral services were held Friday at McQueen Funeral Home, Wheaton. JR Burr conducted the services. Burial was at Dice Cemetery, Fairview.
