Cruisin' for a Cause

Cruisin' for a Cause, a spring motorcycle poker run, will be held on Saturday, April 27, starting with registration at 9 a.m., at Irwin-Easley American Legion Post #118, located on Highway 112 in Cassville.

The event, sponsored by the Ozark Mountain Motorcycle Club (OMMC), will feature food from Bob's Barbecue, a charity auction, bike games and entertainment.

"This is the second year for the Ozark Mountain Motorcycle Club to sponsor the run," said Travis Hilburn, club president. "It's not limited to those with motorcycles, anyone with a vehicle can participate."

This is the major fundraising effort for the year for OMMC, and proceeds will be used to benefit community members in need. A portion of the proceeds will benefit David Ruark, a Barry County Deputy, who recently underwent surgery for several herniated discs in his back.

"The run is approximately 100 miles through an early Ozarks spring," Hilburn said. "We are certainly hoping for good weather."

Following the ride, where riders will stop at several checkpoints to pick up cards, the sealed envelopes will be opened and prizes awarded. First place winner will receive $100, second place will win $50 and the holder of the worst hand will take home $25.

Riders and other participants will also have the opportunity to participate in feats of skill and fun, including the hot dog bite, slow ride, ring toss, ride the board, enjoy musical entertainment and a charity auction.

Cost to enter is $15 for individual riders, $25 for a rider and passenger, $10 for an extra hand and $5 for an extra card draw.
