Purdy FFA attends banquet

Eighteen Purdy students attended the annual Area FFA Banquet on Feb. 27. Eleven students received their Area FFA Degree.

Recipients included Jessica Ball, Jake Beaty, Deana Burch, Doni Craig, Jake Henderson, Melanie Heston, Dillon Lowe, Alex Mareth, Tyler Scott Jared Smith and Kirstin Strother.

Four students received Area Proficiency Awards. The students were, Alex Mareth, second, diversified livestock production; Tyler Scott, third, small animal production and care; Kirstin Strother, first, agriculture communications and Stephanie Kaiser, first, dairy production-entrepreneurship.

Strother and Kaiser will compete at the State FFA Convention.


Purdy FFA members attend national event

Members of the Purdy FFA Chapter were among 43 teams that participated in the National FFA Dairy Cattle Evaluation and Management Career Development Event (CDE).

The event was held in conjunction with the 85th National FFA Convention held in Indianapolis, Ind.

The team, led by David Mareth, advisor, was awarded a silver emblem. Members also competed for individual awards among 167 other participants. Jake Beaty, Jake Henderson and Alex Mareth all received a silver emblem and Jared Smith received a gold emblem.

The top ten individuals and the national winning team members received cash awards to recognize their success in the event.
